According to recent data on student visas published by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the total number of international students studying in the United States at all levels decreased by 2.7 percent from March 2018 to March 2019, reports Inside Higher Ed.

A total of 1,169,464 international students were studying in the United States this spring compared to 1,201,871 last spring, Inside Higher Ed reported. That includes students in K-12, language study, higher education, and those who completed their programs and are working in the country through the optional practical training program.

The data follows the annual Open Doors survey, which found two years of declines in new enrollments for international students in the United States, reported Inside Higher Ed.
